Overview

With multi-touch display, embedded high-performance marine processor, Ethernet networking, and NMEA0183/NMEA2000 connectivity, the NSS7 evo2 is a complete multifunction display system in a single compact unit. Suitable for enclosed pilothouses or outside use, this MFD can be flush-mounted for a slim 8mm profile, or bracket mounted for convenient installation in any location. Multiple NSS evo2 displays and NSO evo2 processors can be networked to form a ship-wide distributed MFD system, with connected instruments and sensors shared between displays.

TouchSensible Control
The Simrad TouchSensible interface provides multi-touch interaction for intuitive control of charts and menus, as well as a keypad and rotary push-to-enter dial for quick and effective use when waves and boat movement make it hard to use a touchscreen accurately.

On fast-moving RIBs, patrol boats, and other vessels where touch controls may be unsuitable, the touchscreen can be locked and the optional Simrad OP40 controller used to operate the NSS7 evo2 with a classic button-driven interface.

HEROiC UI
Simrad Yachting’s HEROiC software is optimised for the NSS7 evo2’s widescreen display and multi-touch interface, making use of common gestures such as pinch-zooming that smartphone and tablet users will find familiar. The Nav page puts key navigational information together in one place, and customisable favourites allow quick access to the functions you use most. Split-screen view allows two panels to be displayed side-by-side, with easily adjustable sizes.

Built-in GPS
The NSS7 evo2’s embedded high-gain GPS/GLONASS receiver provides precise location information without external hardware. High-speed 10Hz updates are suitable for fast-moving vessels, tracking position reliably without “jumping” on the display. The embedded receiver works in flush-mount installations on most fibreglass boats, and in bracket-mount outside installations on other vessels. On vessels where the embedded GPS cannot be used, the NSS7 evo2 is compatible with a wide range of Simrad and third-party external GPS receivers.

Built-in Echosounder & StructureScan
The NSS7 evo2 features a built-in CHIRP/traditional echosounder to clearly identify fish targets and accurately chart depth, plus either StructureScan sonar imaging for a panoramic view of the water column and seafloor, or ForwardScan sonar for a clear 2D view of the bottom ahead of your vessel.

These integrated sonar technologies make it easier than ever to identify productive fishing areas, find anchorages, avoid running aground in unfamiliar waters, survey submerged structures, or rapidly eliminate search areas before sending divers into the water. Additional tranducers and sonar technologies can be used by combining multiple NSS evo2 units, or adding a Simrad SonarHub Sounder Module, BSM-3 Broadband Echosounder, or other sonar module.

Bridge Control
Easily manage multiple displays across a helm station with Bridge Control. Link up to four displays as a ‘bridge’, then create your own presets for activities such as docking, navigation, fishing, surveys, or searches. Bridge presets control what appears on each display, and let you configure an entire helm station with just one simple action.

Bridge Control was designed to suit vessels with dual helms or multiple stations, with the ability to define up to four separate bridges, each with its own displays and presets. Adapt your configuration as your needs or equipment change, with the ability to create, edit, and delete bridges and presets on the fly. Bridge Control works with any networked combination of Simrad NSS evo2 and NSO evo2 multifunction displays.

Autopilot Integration
Your Simrad autopilot or compatible electronic steering system can be operated via the NSS7 evo2, without a separate autopilot display or controls. On vessels with dual helms or multiple stations, autopilot integration means full autopilot and steering control from any NSS or NSO evo2 MFD on board – turning every station into a functional helm station.

The NSS7 evo2 includes a dedicated autopilot button and indicator lights, rotary-dial steering, and full on-screen autopilot controls. Beyond simple autopilot, integration gives you course control with route navigation – lay down and navigate to waypoints with just a touch, or easily backtrack to previous locations – invaluable when fishing, surveying, or conducting searches.

Expansion Capabilities
With its Ethernet, NMEA0183, and NMEA2000 connectivity, the NSS7 evo2 can be integrated with other Simrad performance modules and third-party hardware such as echosounders, broadband and pulse radar, FLIR infrared cameras, engine monitoring interfaces, and more.

Cartography Options
With dual chart card slots built in, you’re free to choose from a wide range of cartography options to best suit your location and usage. The NSS7 evo2 supports C-MAP MAX-N, Navionics, Insight, Insight Genesis, and NV Digital Charts.

Navionics Autorouting / Jeppesen Easy Routing
Automatic routing brings the convenience of in-car navigation to boating, giving you the confidence to navigate unfamiliar waters and letting you get underway with less delay. Navionics Autorouting and Jeppesen Easy Routing are both fully supported on the NSS7 evo2. Simply select a destination, and the chartplotter will automatically suggest the shortest, safest route taking into consideration the draught and dimensions of your vessel.

Automatic routing features are unavailable in North America. Navionics Autorouting requires Navionics+ or Navionics Platinum charts, Jeppesen Easy Routing requires Jeppesen CMAP MAX-N+ charts.

Jeppesen Tides and Currents
Navigate, fish, and plan voyages easier with support for Jeppesen’s global Tides and Currents. When used with Jeppesen CMAP MAX-N charts, the NSS7 evo2 can display predicted tides and currents for a location in real-time, or make tide and current projections for a future trip. Zoom in to see dynamic current data directly incorporated into your navigational charts, with animated icons to indicate speed and direction.

Simrad GoFree WiFi Connectivity
Never leave your station unattended, wherever you’re needed on board. Mirror the screen of your NSS7 evo2 on your Apple or Android tablet or smartphone, in real time, with the optional Simrad GoFree WiFi module. Many functions can also be controlled remotely – mark waypoints, change echosounder settings, set radar guard zones, manage onboard entertainment, and more.
