Dual wireless sensor for depth and height measurements

From its position on the gear, the Simrad PI SeineSounder dual sensor measures both the depth below the surface and the height above the bottom.

The Simrad PI SeineSounder is a "dual" sensor, and is performs the following tasks:

  • It measures the current depth below the sea surface, and transmits the information back to the PI operator unit on the bridge.
  • It measures the current height above the bottom, and transmits the information back to the PI operator unit on the bridge.

The sensor can either be installed horizontally on a trawl or vertical on a purse seine. A dedicated "sensor key" is used to set up the sensor for these two installation methods.

The Simrad PI SeineSounder is developed in cooperation with the combined Danish seine/purse seiner Trinto and the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) in Norway.
